Happy Summer, dear ones! The Summer Solstice on June 21st marked the beginning of this beautiful season of abundance, flow, heat, fire, the heart, and the small intestine! A nourished and balanced summer body and spirit feels amazing!! Alternatively, an imbalanced summer body and spirit feels hot, tired, irritable, and dry. Right now I am sinking so deeply into the expansive, flowing, loving, overflowing abundance of slowing down with this season. Summer is a combination of speeding up in some areas and slowing down in others. Think about slowing down at work and speeding up on vacation or hiking as an example! Right now I am speeding up in my gardening and activating my time doing silly kid things during the day. At the same time, I’m slowing way down and giving myself the gift of fully catching up to my level of development so that no part of me is left behind. While winter is a time of integrating in the dark quiet, summer is a time of integrating through shining abundant light on all areas that need tending.

It is BROTH season! The truth is, we believe that every season is broth season, but especially Winter. Broths are a powerhouse for combating winter cold and supporting wellness throughout the season (and every season). Broths warm, nourish, cleanse, and hydrate the body. They also open the heart, and provide vitamins and minerals plus protein and collagen. Broths are comforting, soothing, and deeply nourishing making them foundational for winter health. Vegetarian ✻ VEGAN ✻ Grain-Free ✻ Gluten-Free ✻ Dairy-free ✻ Paleo The original version of this dressing comes from a recipe that my dear friend, Jennifer Rieger! She makes the absolute best Caesar dressing. Her dressing inspired these dairy-free and vegan versions. This vinaigrette is perfect for classic caesar salad with romaine (try the romaine grilled - yum!), coleslaw, as a dip for crunchy veggies, or on grilled chicken or fish for a weeknight meal. It holds well in the fridge for 3-4 days, so including this recipe in your weekly meal prep is a great way to add tons of flavor and even nutrition with not a lot of work. One of my favorite twists on this recipe is to add handfuls of other fresh garden herbs for variety and extra punch. Fresh herbs like thyme, cilantro, basil, and dill are all wonderful. Most herbs you have on hand will work! This is my Summer and late Spring everyday Herbal Blend. Every time I make it I'm just blown away by how beautiful and delicious it is. Emmet said that it "tastes amazing" and I was just thinking that I couldn't agree more. Ingredients: 2 parts Alfalfa: I chose alfalfa for the nutritive value. All those vitamins and minerals! One of Alfalfa's uses is for indigestion. Alfalfa also has calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and iron. Not to mention vitamins A, C, E, and K 🌱🌱 2 parts Rose Petal: Rose brings on such a sense of well-being, sensuality, and calm. I love Rose in everything right now. Rose petals, rose hydrosol, rose essential oil. You get it 🌹🌹 1 part Lemon Balm: Lemon Balm is calming and antiviral. Need I say more? Lemon balm is also really tasty 💋 1 part Lavender: I added Lavender to this for the calming, uplifting, and digestive support. Lavender is also a very balancing herb. It supports us to increase energy if energy is low and to calm if our energy is high or anxious. 💜 2 parts Calendula: First off, I add Calendula to everything right now. It definitely seems to be my favorite. In addition, I love Calendula for its gut healing properties, immune support through the lymphatic system, and gentle cleansing action. 🏵️ 2 parts Nettle: I always add Nettle in the spring to minimize the slight allergy symptoms that I get along with enjoying the nutritive and tonic value of this amazing herb. 🌿 I add two to three tablespoons to 16 oz of water and steep for at least 1 hour! 🍵🍵🍵 Many of the people that I am working with right now that are sick are being told to stay home. We also know that many that get sick will not receive hospital or medical care and home care will be very important for full recovery. This is what I recommend having in the home to prepare for, prevent, and treat COVID-19. Below are the home remedies that I have on hand and recommend. Some of these I also have available to the community. Right now, Amazon and most herbal companies are still shipping. This is my personal list. It is so incredibly important that you all know that this is not medical advice. Herbalists do not diagnose or treat. Even more important, in this situation, we just don’t know enough about this virus. We are learning a lot from China right now about how COVID-19 shows up energetically in the body and how best to treat the virus. That being said, the herbal and homeopathic community are still just speculating. Again, home care will be very important with medical shortages and hospital overflow. Based on what we do know, below are my best recommendations for what I would want to have in the house. |
