Make it a Habit: 9 Simple Daily Practices for Health and Wellness

Establishing simple daily practices to support your wellness is an incredible way to shift towards a happier, healthier you this year.  I’ve developed this list based on feedback from clients and from what I have observed in my family. I chose these because they are high impact, and a great way to jump start your wellness plan, but require very little to start. Each of these practices is simple, free (or very affordable), and easy to integrate into your daily practice. I use these practices in my daily life and with my children because they are so easy and accessible. Try these for a week to increase your energy, improve sleep, improve your skin, ease your digestion and more. You should experience an improvement in your overall sense of wellness and well-being.  Enjoy!

Here are 9 simple wellness practices you can easily incorporate into your daily routine:

  • Start your day with quality filtered or spring water. Adding a splash of fresh lemon juice or raw apple cider vinegar and a dash of Himalayan sea salt will ensure that you are getting important minerals and cleansing your liver and blood on a daily basis.  A happy liver supports your skin, digestion, sleep, mental health, and so much more.
  • A piggy-back on number one, ensure you are well hydrated. Drink plenty of mineralized water throughout the day. It is very important for the proper flow of energy and for your physical well-being.
  • Eat fresh foods of all colors to keep your energy levels up and balanced.  There are so many different healing diets and approaches, but across the board, we know that getting plenty of whole foods leads to long healthy lives. Ditch the sugar and processed foods.
  • Eat 4 hours before you go to bed.  Even better, plan to eat only within a set time-frame every day.  Our digestive systems use up a tremendous amount of energy digesting food.  Giving your body a break every day allows us to do other important things like cleansing and sleeping deeply.  I recommend eating between 8 am and 6 pm or 12 pm and 6 pm if you are practicing intermittent fasting.
  • Prioritize your sleep. Quality sleep supports your endocrine system and metabolism. You may feel like you don’t have time to get quality sleep, but studies show that we actually lose time and productivity when we’re tired. Get to sleep at least 2 hours before midnight. Go to sleep and wake at regular times every day.
  • Get outdoors as much as possible. Spend time in nature breathing clean air and absorbing the splendor of nature.  If you can’t get outside, find a way to move your body. A few minutes of movement will make a big difference for your body and mental health.
  • Meditate and pray often, especially upon rising. This helps set your positive intention for the day and clear any emotions that may be blocking your energy.
  • Establish a daily practice to maintain energy and energy cleanliness.  Diet and exercise are so important, but you can’t separate the physical from the spiritual and emotional.  Care for your wellness from all angles. Check out these 9 practices of clearing energy HERE.
  • Start a practice of tuning in to your body.  This one may seem silly, but you’ll be amazed at what you’ll learn about your physical and emotional needs by tuning in.  It’s as simple as pausing and asking yourself, “what do I need right now?” It could be food, water, rest, or companionship.  Just ask the question.

These simple practices in your daily routine will help you feel well, clear, and energized!

Loved these practices and want to take your healing to the next level?  Try adding these daily practices for even more!  They are a bit more of a commitment, but you won't be sorry.

  • Start drinking bone broth everyday.  Bone stock is easy to make and incredible for healing the gut.  It’s delicious and one of the most nourishing foods you can consume. Bone broth is a straight shot (literally) of minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and trace minerals) and contains collagen which aids in mineralization of teeth and bones. Bone broth is also essential for healing the mucosal lining of the gut.  I always say, if you are not already using bone broth regularly for your general health, you should be!
  • Consider doing a cleanse.  Regular cleansing supports our physical, emotional, and spiritual health and allows us to get rid of what we don'r need so that we can be our most vibrant, healthy selves.  I cleanse seasonally and as needed based on travel, stress, or illness. This practice has helped me significantly decrease illness, fatigue, and skin issues.
  • Take time to prepare your food properly.  Properly prepared food is easy to digest, highly nutritious, and incredibly delicious.  If you eat nuts, legumes, or grains, learn to prepare them properly by soaking them before eating them. The time commitment is small, but the payoff is huge. HERE is a chart for easy preparation.
  • Add juicing to your food practice. Juicing allows us to get the benefits of raw fruits and vegetables without the digestive distress of consuming large amounts of produce.  Drink your juice without other food and at room temperature, for the full cleansing and nutritional benefit.
